Quick verdict

Choose the Havnby FlatCore when you want the seat slope filled by a shaped profile, a pump inside the mattress and a 60-day trial. Choose the Tesla Model Y Air Mattress when the $225 price, the official Tesla fit and a thin 8 cm profile matter more, and when you can accept that Tesla does not take back a used mattress.

What this comparison can and cannot establish

What the sources establish

  • Published size, depth and weight
  • Construction and pump type
  • Warranty and trial terms
  • Dated list prices

What remains unknown

  • Fit in your exact car
  • Overnight comfort
  • Pump noise
  • Long-term durability

What the extra $324 buys

$324The FlatCore cost $549 and the Tesla Model Y Air Mattress cost $225 on 1 October 2026, before tax and shipping.

Havnby lists a shaped profile, a pump inside the mattress, a fitted sheet, a storage bag and a 60-day trial for the extra money. Tesla sells a thin foam-and-air mattress with a separate pump, two repair patches and the official compatibility statement.

The Tesla mattress is the low-cost choice for an owner who camps a few nights a year. The FlatCore is the choice for an owner who finds the seat slope uncomfortable on a flat pad.

Shaped profile or flat pad

Havnby FlatCore

7.5 in to 3.1 in, shaped

Havnby makes the FlatCore thicker at the seatback end and thinner at the trunk end, so that it fills the step of the folded seats. Havnby publishes no measured angle.

Tesla Model Y Air Mattress

3.12 in, one even layer

Tesla states that the mattress fits across the folded rear seats and the trunk. Its 8 cm profile follows the cargo floor and leaves the most headroom of the two.

Model Y L owners Neither mattress lists the Model Y L. Tesla sells a separate Model Y L Air Mattress, and Havnby sells a separate FlatCore for the Model Y L.

Pump and setup

Havnby FlatCore

Built-in 12V pump, about 80 s

Havnby states about 80 seconds to inflate and about 90 seconds to deflate. The pump stays inside the mattress.

Tesla Model Y Air Mattress

Separate pump, 12 V socket

Tesla puts an air pump and an adapter in the box. The instruction sheet shows the pump on a 12 V socket. Tesla recommends the pump for the first inflation, because the first self-inflation can be slow.

Timings are not like for like Havnby gives its timings in text. Tesla’s instruction sheet shows timer icons without text, so we do not compare them as seconds.

Returns and warranty

Havnby FlatCore

60-day trial, 3-year warranty

Havnby lets you sleep on the mattress for up to 60 days after delivery and then return it. An opened return can cost a condition fee of $10 to $30, plus return shipping.

Tesla Model Y Air Mattress

30 days, no return after use

Tesla takes back unopened accessories within 30 days. Opened and unused items have a 15% restocking fee. Used items cannot be returned. Direct-ship accessories have a one-year warranty, and the mattress is not named in Tesla’s warranty table.

The operator owns a FlatCore Model Y and a FlatCore Solo. His Havnby Solo vs Full Size video (the operator’s YouTube channel, 15 July 2026) shows both mattresses in a Model Y. It gives no measurement. Our owner experience covers the Havnby side only.

Four reasons for each

Choose Havnby FlatCore when

  • You want the 7.5-inch seatback end and 3.1-inch trunk end to fill the seat slope.
  • You want the 12V pump inside the mattress instead of a separate pump.
  • You want a 60-day trial, because Tesla does not take back a used mattress.
  • You want a three-year warranty instead of Tesla’s one-year accessory warranty.

Choose the Tesla Model Y Air Mattress when

  • The $225 price and the $324 saving decide it.
  • You want Tesla’s own compatibility statement for every Model Y except the Model Y L.
  • You want the 8 cm profile for the most headroom.
  • You want two repair patches and a carry bag in the box from Tesla.
